Each wedding quilt in double ring was different then all the others because of who it was for and who made it,  the selection of stitches and fabric. It was unique.  It expressed in pieces of saved cloth the hope of a mother for her daughter of a community of women who welcomed a new member. .

It was for this reason the the quilt  as medium was selected for the AIDS memorial because more then photographs of the individuals it told the world this is who my loved one was.  Lover, brother, sister, wife, husband, child, friend.  This person...existed. Had a unique personality contributed gave me joy, was not a number, or a statistic, was not a victim, or a member of a minority. This was an individual who deserved and received love. And as long as this quit exists no one can forget that.
